![]() ![]() We serve over 8,000 women and deliver training and professional development to over 350 professionals each year. After retiring our Dating Violence Program in 2007, we launched Youth Engagement in Violence Prevention in 2010. In 2010, we launched The Violence Stops Here Campaign urging men to own their role in ending violence against women. As part of the feminist anti-violence movement, our long-term goal is the elimination of all violence against women. In 2008, we re-envisioned our mandate of systemic advocacy and law reform. In 2002, we solidified our work as social entrepreneurs when we opened My Sister's Closet Thrift Boutique and our second location in 2007. In 1992, we committed to our mandate of delivering training and professional development. We continue to provide support and advocacy for women who have experienced abuse, as well as training and education about violence against women. Over the years, BWSS has grown into a strong and dynamic organization. Through a wide range of fundraising events and opportunities, the foundation is united with its donors by a single, simple passion to improve the health and the lives of the young people who enter BC Children's Hospital every day.Ī determined group of women started Battered Women's Support Services in 1979. Since 1982, BC Children's Hospital Foundation has worked with children, families, caregivers and hundreds of thousands of British Columbians to give Children’s Hospital and the Child & Family Research Institute the resources they need to excel. Funds raised by the foundation are used to support BC Children’s Hospital, Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children and the Child & Family Research Institute. BC Children’s Hospital Foundation received donations from more than 120,000 people last year and had consolidated revenues of $56.4 million. Last year, more than 78,000 children were treated at Children’s Hospital. All children who are seriously ill or injured are referred to Children’s Hospital and are either treated at the hospital in Vancouver or in consultation with children’s specialists, in their home community.
